The staff are friendly and accommodating. Cleaning service is thorough and quick. Some of the rooms are bigger than others, but overall are pretty typical of what you would expect from a hotel in Rome. The breakfast is generous and tastes great. Staff take good care of you, and make sure you have all the hot caffeine you want. It's the same thing every day with no variations, so for a longer stay you may want to plan to visit a local cafe of patisserie for some variety (Ottavi dal 1921 is nearby and delightful). But for a good, filling and cheap start to the day, San Lorenzo Maria's breakfast can't be beat. The transit access is very good. Rome Termini is close by, and there are Metro rail stations about a ten minute walk away. There is a bus-stop literally one minute around the corner that gives great options, including a direct line to the Colosseum and Circus Maximus. There's also good local dining in the area, and some life-changing gelato (Gelato San Lorenzo, get the strawberry, ricotta or the apple cinnamon crumble). We were also lucky enough to get the third floor room with the terrace. It was like having another four hotel rooms adjoining ours. Pretty specific thing to recommend since no other room in the hotel had anything like it, but if you can get it or put a request in you should. It made our trip!

Staff were lovely, especially the lovely night manager Alex! All the staff were so helpful, in the evening Alex was able to recommend local restaurants and bars, book us a taxi and call ahead to restaurants to reserve a table for us, and even make us a drink when we came back late. The rooms were lovely, big comfy bed, modern bathroom, all very clean and turned down every day. The location was great as there were a lot of bars/restaurants/cafes nearby and the hotel is in a very quiet spot (we were right at the front of the hotel and couldn’t hear anything from outside). It was a bit of a walk away from the main attractions and would need to take a bus or metro to areas like the Vatican/Trevi fountain/etc but there is a metro station is about a 10-15 min walk away and plenty of buses and only a 20 min walk from Termini Station. Overall a good area to stay in and very easy to access other areas of Rome from.

All the staff were welcoming and efficient. The reception team were outstanding with their knowledge ,willingness to do research for us, communication skills and general bonhomie. They could also conjure taxis in minutes.[ 15 euros to the Colosseum]. The "continental" buffet breakfast was excellent value for money and included eggs. A good range of gluten free was available on request. You could eat breakfast outside in their courtyard, or take your drink there from the bar. Our room had its own splendid terrace. A beautiful building, with a small but modern bathroom with instant hot water and plenty of water pressure.

Honestly, it was way better than I expected for a 3-star place! First off, the staff were absolute sweethearts! Seriously, everyone was so friendly and helpful. They were always up for a chat, gave me awesome tips on where to go and what to see, and nothing was too much trouble. And the breakfast! It was the perfect fuel for a day of exploring. The best part? It was totally affordable! I couldn't believe how much I got for my money. If you're looking for a place in Rome that's comfy, clean, and run by the nicest people ever, you HAVE to check out Hotel Villa San Lorenzo Maria. You won't regret it!

The hotel is well located in that we were able to walk to the coliseum in 30 minutes of very entertaining street scape. All major monuments in historic district are walkable. The Vatican is too far but a local Bus #3 a 5 minute walk from hotel will get you there. The main Rome train station is a 20 minute walk or tram 5 or 14 away. Very doable. The front desk are very knowledgeable in providing high quality guidance for getting around. There are many restaurants 3 minute walk from hotel. My wife and I are very experienced travellers and this place is a gem.
